"Life is hard enough
as it is, so I try to paint the things that make me
happy. Through my subject matter and all of its nuances
and detail I want to convey all the complexities, colors
and creativity of miracles that life gives to us on a
daily basis."

Eric Christensen
Christensen’s
“wine art”
begins where most contemporary wine artists leave off. Eric loves to
capture the romance of the wine country, which he points out,
“is so much more than just the wine”.
Collectors of
Christensen’s art typically own several of his creations and enjoy the
varied themes they portray; lifelike landscapes and intimate still life
paintings that incorporate a variety of elements including food, flowers
or fruit with appropriate background settings. Christensen
now finds himself unique in his field. In fact he is the only
known artist capable of hyperrealism through the use of standard
watercolour.

Red Legacy
Sometimes a smaller-sized work of art fits the bill. This work by Eric
pays homage to a Legend of Napa Valley whose goal it was to produce
California wines that would rival the finest wines of Europe. We are
proud to announce the release of the limited edition of Eric's recent
original, "Red Legacy."

No matter what the occasion, nothing says "celebration" like champagne!
Whether it's a wedding, job promotion, new house or new baby, champagne
is the libation of choice to mark special occasions. Eric Christensen
was thoughtful in his composition of the piece and included the
champagne lover's favorite, Veuve Clicquot, along with the exquisite
Perrier Jouët. The copper foils reflect the golden light of a late
afternoon autumn day. As the bubbles race to the top of the flute, the
sunlight captures the effervescence and shines a single spot on the
glass. A time set aside to honor the achievements in life - it's a
"Sparkling Proposal."

Just before sunset on a late summer’s day, a cloth-covered table
presents a choice of elegant and seductive Pinot Noirs for the
consummate pinot lover. Cuddling close to the rich, dark wine are
buttery croissants and a sampling of imported cheeses: a bold Irish
Cheddar, double cream French Brie, and fragrant Pecorino. Musing that
this perfect combination might well be enough, it causes one to flirt
with idea; why not indulge the “Passion for Pinot” and skip dinner
tonight?

We've all heard about "the Sweet
Life" - and now we know what it looks like! In "La Dolce Vita" you
find yourself seated at a bistro table in front of a fanciful,
wrought iron window with shimmering leaded glass. The scrolls of the
ironwork are echoed in the Art Nouveau design on the label of the
dessert wine. The bottles of port wine stand guard, awaiting their
turn. If you were to open the window, only your imagination can
envision the backdrop that will unfold behind the sweet treasures
that await your palate: fresh berries under a blanket of powdered
sugar, pastel petit fours elegantly presented under glass, and a
delightful dollop of freshly whipped cream perched atop a generous
slice of decadent deep dark chocolate cake. Is there anything
sweeter than "La Dolce Vita"?

From the burgeoning summer garden
comes a basket overflowing with an abundance of vegetables. But
which ones to choose for the meal tonight? A feast for the eyes, the
bouquet of color bursts forth from an assortment of peppers,
tomatoes, cabbage and carrots. Radishes, radicchio, onions and
eggplant tantalize the imagination of what banquet will be created
from “Starting Fresh.” To speed the decision, a glass of Cabernet -
smooth & velvety – and a sliver of Gorgonzola will accompany the
meal’s preparation

"Elegant Afternoon" is
a finely detailed study, embellished with rich reds for the palate
and the eye. Christensen gives wine country romance a fresh look and
a warm feeling with this watercolor painting. He captures hundreds
of red hues from the sun-dappled leaves of a Japanese maple to the
succulent bunch of grapes. The premium wines he has chosen for this
piece are among Napa's finest, and set the tone for a first-rate
experience to follow. The contrasting textures illuminated by the
afternoon light evokes a sense warmth.

One of Eric’s most
frequently received comments is “How do you paint the glass?” This
piece takes painting glass to the next level and will most certainly
amaze and delight Christensen collectors. While technical in nature,
this piece maintains that warm elegant feeling of being inside a
French Chateau or an English Manor. The leaded glass window adds
structure to a simple still-life featuring a premium wine, a couple
of delicious peaches and an ivy topiary. Subtle in color but not
drama, there are thousands of reflections to explore all over this
piece. The perfect setting for some Contemplation

creates a masterpiece for a Napa Valley legend; Grgich Hills Estate
wines. This amazing watercolor painting captures the spirit and
passion of Grgich Hills wines, in honor of their 30th anniversary.
This painting depicts elements from their tasting room such as
antique Croatian furniture, Mike Grgich's characteristic beret, and
of course their premium wines.

Eric Christensen has
created another masterful work of art, “The Study”, a hyper
realistic watercolor wine art painting. European masters created
miniaturized versions of their artwork as a preliminary to the final
work, known as a study. Now Christensen has created a modern day
study of "Back to Back". In "The Study" Christensen enhances colors
and emphasizes texture and reflections seen in "Back to Back".
Composition for this also differs from the full size painting as it
features a "cut-away" with only a few shapes and elements. One of
his most technically challenging pieces, "The Study" represents the
first time Christensen has created such an oversized detail
composition with watercolor. This truly amazing painting glows with
reflections and subtle light.

The "Color Convention"
adds a dramatic statement of color to any art collection, and it is
sure to become a very special piece for those who love to collect
Eric Christensen art. These colorful gerbera daisies seem to be
conversing with each other as they bend to hear what each other have
to say. Some even appear to be stretching to make their point with
their neighbors in the next container! The original, created for
Christensen's mother is proudly displayed above the fireplace in her
Utah home. The complexity and texture of the petals on this piece
are amazing and have the look and feel of velvet. The "Color
Convention" stands as another testimony to the watercolor genius of

Since returning from
his last visit to the Hawaiian Islands, Christensen has been
yearning to compose a piece that captures the feeling of being in
Hawaii. At last, Christensen’s stunning new watercolor with a
decidedly Hawaiian theme! This amazing piece titled "Aloha Alii",
features deep red and yellow orchids which represent the colors of
Hawaiian Royalty, originally inspired by native island birds.
Tropical mango, antherium flowers and palm leaves contribute to this
composition of a relaxing Hawaiian Island setting. Sunlight gives
the glasses sparkle and provides the opportunity to follow
reflections in many areas of this painting.
What better way to relive a visit to paradise every day!

This is the view of
every one of us dreams of having, sitting on a sunny Nappa Valley
afternoon with a view of the Western Mountains. Not only can you see
yourself sitting there, having a glass of wine, you can literally
see the pergola overhead reflecting in the bottles and glasses. This
piece, speaks of autumns with persimmons and fall colors.
