In this painting,
the title of which translates as "the hand of the maker," Greg has created a
stunningly designed work of art in addition to a highly skilled portrait of
an ocelot.
I like to paint
beauty," says Greg Beecham, "and in this image I wanted to capture the grace
of trumpeter swans and how they relate to their environment. It’s early
morning and there’s still a mist on the lake. Something unseen has unsettled
the birds and they're lifting off into the sunlight."
We live close to the
beautiful Wind River,” Greg remarks. “Bald eagles winter over here,
attracted by fish that flourish from the warm springs flowing into it. I’ve
studied the birds here and in Alaska and compared notes with a friend who’s
an ardent eagle watcher in Washington State. In this image, I tried to
convey the feeling of movement across the piece and exaggerated the values
of light and dark to create mood and bring the eagles up close to the
viewer.” The result? A uniquely thrilling portrayal.
